Delhi Weather Forecast: Rain Likely on Independence Day, IMD Issues Weekly Outlook

New Delhi: Amid changing weather patterns, the national capital is likely to witness heavy rain on Thursday. The day is expected to remain cloudy, with one or two spells of light to moderate showers between morning and afternoon. This is likely to keep the temperature below normal.
On Friday, Independence Day, light rain is also expected, but its intensity will be lower. There may be one or two spells between morning and afternoon, and another round between evening and night. Sunshine could make brief appearances between the clouds.
Wednesday saw a mixed weather trend, with intermittent cloud cover and sunshine. Despite the forecast, no rainfall occurred. The maximum temperature was recorded at 35.0°C, 0.8°C above normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 26.8°C, 0.2°C below normal. Humidity levels ranged between 91% and 60%.
According to the India Meteorological Department’s weekly forecast, Delhi is likely to witness cloudy skies and light rain every day until August 20. During this period, the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 32°C and 33°C, while the minimum will hover between 24°C and 25°C. However, if the sun comes out, humidity could cause discomfort.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remains in the ‘moderate’ category. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 120 on Wednesday. NCR cities also reported AQI levels ranging between ‘satisfactory’ and ‘moderate.’ No significant rise in pollution levels is expected in the near future.
