Travel Time Cut to Just 40 Minutes: PM Modi Inaugurates Dwarka Expressway’s Delhi Section, Highlights Key Points

New Delhi: Commuting from Noida to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport will now become faster and smoother. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated two landmark infrastructure projects from Rohini — the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). With this, the travel time to the airport will be reduced to just 40 minutes.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini were also present at the grand event. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi shared several key remarks.

PM Modi’s Key Remarks

Speaking after inaugurating the projects, PM Modi said:

“This expressway is named after Dwarka, while the event is taking place in Rohini. And I myself come from the land of Dwarkadhish… The entire atmosphere here feels very Krishna-like today.”

Highlighting Delhi’s developmental efforts, the Prime Minister praised the BJP-led government in the capital, saying:

  • Over 16 lakh metric tonnes of silt has been removed from the Yamuna River.
  • Around 650 electric buses have already been deployed, with plans to cross 2,000 buses soon, further strengthening the vision of Green Delhi – Clean Delhi.

He criticized previous governments for neglecting the capital and said:

“It is not easy for the new BJP government to pull Delhi out of its long-standing challenges. Filling the deep holes left by earlier governments will take time, but I am confident the team you have chosen will work hard to overcome these issues.”

PM Modi also noted how waste from landfills like Bhalswa was being scientifically used in the construction of UER-II, helping reduce Delhi’s garbage mountains.

“When the world looks at India, its first impression is our capital, Delhi. We must make Delhi a model of development — a capital that reflects the spirit of a rising India.”

Gadkari’s Assurance

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said these projects would significantly ease congestion:

“Traffic jams in Delhi will be reduced by nearly 50%. The expressways are well-connected with several parts of the city. By 2026, we aim to bring India’s logistics cost to single digits, which will be crucial for our exports.”

CM Rekha Gupta’s Praise

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta lauded the Prime Minister’s leadership, stating:

“In my five months of administrative experience as CM, I can say with confidence that you are a visionary leader. Your policies ensure equal participation of every state and safeguard the interests of every citizen. You have always put national interest above politics.”

PM Modi was felicitated at the event by CM Rekha Gupta and Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini for inaugurating the two major national highway projects — Dwarka Expressway (Delhi section) and Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II).
