I Am Not Someone Who Gets Scared…” Delhi CM Recalls Fire Incident That Burnt Her Face

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, days after being attacked during a public hearing, on Saturday narrated a decades-old incident from her Delhi University days when her face was badly burnt in a fire accident. Recalling that moment, she said, “I am now a powerhouse of strength, I will not be afraid of any evil force.” She also issued an open challenge to her political opponents.
CM Recalls Fire Incident from Student Politics Days
During a program in Delhi, CM Rekha Gupta spoke about her resilience and narrated her past struggle. She said, “I am used to fighting storms. When I was the president of DUSU (Delhi University Students’ Union), we were staging a protest. While burning an effigy, petrol spilled, and my face was badly burnt. For nearly one and a half months, I suffered a lot. Yet even then, I believed I must not stop—I had to keep moving forward.”
Hinting at the recent attack on her during the Jan Sunwai (public hearing), Gupta said, “Today, the people of Delhi stand with me. I am now a bundle of energy and strength. I will not fear any demonic force.”
Meeting with BJP District Presidents
Earlier in the day, Rekha Gupta met 14 BJP district presidents at her residence. They inquired about her health and held a meeting with her to discuss strengthening organizational work across various districts of Delhi.
Reiterating her commitment after the attack, the Chief Minister said that public hearings will no longer be restricted to her residence but will be held in every constituency of Delhi. “Your Chief Minister will neither be scared, nor tired, nor defeated. Until Delhi gets its rightful powers, I will continue this struggle with you. This is my unbreakable resolve,” she said.
Security Upgraded to Z+ Category
Following the attack during the public hearing, the security cover of the Delhi Chief Minister has been upgraded to Z+ category. Delhi Police is conducting a detailed investigation into the matter. Police teams have also questioned several suspects in Rajasthan, though apart from the main accused Rajesh, no other arrests have been made so far.
