Ghaziabad: Over 12,000 Patients in Just Four Days, Doctors Issue Advisory for Residents

After the recent spell of rain, Ghaziabad is reeling under humid weather conditions, leading to a sharp rise in the number of patients at government hospitals. Adding to the woes, server downtime has forced patients to wait for one to two hours just to get their slips made.

In the last four days, more than 12,000 people have visited doctors for treatment. From OPD counters to pathology labs, long queues have been forming since 9 a.m. every morning.

On Thursday alone, a total of 3,837 patients turned up at MMG District Hospital, Joint Hospital, and Dundahera Hospital. Among them were 1,907 women, 1,447 men, and 592 sick children. Out of these, 508 patients complained of fever, including 72 children. Twenty-four fever patients had to be admitted for further treatment.

Doctors’ Warning

Physician Dr. Alok Ranjan explained that after rainfall, the chances of infectious diseases spreading increase significantly. Cases of fever accompanied by vomiting, diarrhea, breathing difficulties, stomach infections, typhoid, and malaria tend to rise.
He advised residents to take preventive measures, including:

  • Avoid eating outside food
  • Sleep under mosquito nets
  • Wear full-sleeve clothes during the day
  • Prevent water accumulation on rooftops and around houses
  • Regularly drain water from ACs and coolers
  • Clean flowerpots daily
  • Destroy mosquito larvae and ensure insecticide spraying in case of dengue risk

Dog Bite Cases Surge

The menace of stray dogs continues in the city. In just the last 24 hours, 117 people, including 41 children, were bitten by stray dogs. All victims received anti-rabies vaccination. In total, 249 people were administered the vaccine.

At MMG Hospital alone, 150 dog-bite cases were reported, where 79 people, including 22 children, received the first dose of the anti-rabies vaccine. At the Joint Hospital in Sanjay Nagar, 99 people, including 19 children, were treated, out of which 38 were given their first dose.

Most of the dog-bite victims belonged to Nandgram, Sadrpur, Morta, Arthala, Karheda, Kot village, Vijaynagar, Govindpuram, and Patel Nagar.
