Heavy Rain Alert: Cyclonic Storm Threat… IMD Warns of Intense Rainfall from November 26 to 29, High Alert Issued in Several States
National Desk: Cold conditions have intensified in North India as hilly states experience snowfall and icy winds. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh due to a possible formation of a cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal. The department has also warned of heavy rainfall in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from November 26 to 29.
Cold Wave Strengthens in Delhi
In the national capital Delhi, wind speed increased to 12 kmph in the past 24 hours, compared to the earlier 8 kmph. Despite sunshine during the day, the chill in the air has intensified. According to IMD, both maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to drop from November 26.
Weather Conditions in Uttar Pradesh
The weather in Uttar Pradesh is expected to remain dry for the next week. On Wednesday, the western and eastern parts of the state are likely to witness clear skies, though fog may appear in the morning at some places. Dry conditions are expected on November 27, 28, and 29 as well.
Minimum temperatures have already started falling in several districts:
- Barabanki & Kanpur: 8°C
- Bareilly: 8.6°C
- Etawah & Muzaffarnagar: 9°C
- Meerut: 9.1°C
- Azamgarh: 10°C
Weather expert Atul Singh said that temperatures may improve slightly in the next 1–2 days. Currently, no active weather system is affecting the state. Cold northwesterly winds are the major reason behind the temperature drop.
Changing Weather in Madhya Pradesh
In Madhya Pradesh, the last week of November has brought some relief from severe cold and cold-wave conditions. In the past 24 hours, districts in the Rewa and Shahdol divisions recorded a fall of 1.5 to 2°C in maximum temperatures. Minimum temperatures in the Rewa division also dropped by up to 1.9°C.
The lowest temperature was recorded in Chhatarpur’s Nowgong at 8°C, while Rewa recorded 8.9°C and Morena recorded 9.4°C.
