Air India’s Delhi–Mumbai Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Technical Snag; All Passengers Safe
National Desk: Panic briefly gripped Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday morning when Air India flight AI 887, bound for Mumbai, was forced to return shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue. Prioritising passenger safety, the pilot decided to turn the aircraft back to Delhi after detecting a possible malfunction. The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew members are completely unharmed.
What Went Wrong?
According to an official statement released by Air India, the incident occurred on the morning of December 22. Soon after the flight departed from Delhi, the crew noticed an anomaly in the aircraft’s system. Following standard safety protocols, the pilot took a precautionary decision to return to the origin airport rather than take any risk. The aircraft made a normal and safe landing at Delhi, after which all passengers were safely disembarked.

Air India has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused due to this unexpected incident. The airline has taken the following steps to assist passengers:
