Delhi Traffic Advisory: Heavy Vehicles Barred at Delhi–Gurugram Border This Evening; Check Closed Routes
National Desk: Ahead of the rehearsal for the Beating Retreat ceremony, temporary traffic restrictions have been imposed across parts of Delhi-NCR. Several key areas in New Delhi, including Vijay Chowk, will remain closed to general traffic for a specified duration on January 22. Delhi Traffic Police has urged commuters to use alternative routes.
Vijay Chowk and Raisina Road Closed
According to Delhi Traffic Police, Vijay Chowk will remain completely closed to regular traffic from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM on January 22. Raisina Road, from the Krishi Bhawan roundabout towards Vijay Chowk, will also remain restricted during this period.
Restrictions on Other Key Roads
During the rehearsal, vehicles heading towards Vijay Chowk from Dara Shikoh Road, Krishna Menon Marg, and the Sunahari Masjid roundabouts will not be allowed to proceed further.
Entry Ban on Medium and Heavy Goods Vehicles
Delhi and Gurugram police have jointly announced that medium and heavy goods vehicles (MGV and LGV) will not be permitted to enter Delhi and Gurugram from 5:00 PM on January 22 till 1:30 PM on January 23. The same restriction will again apply from 5:00 PM on January 25 to 1:30 PM on January 26.
Diversion Routes for Heavy Vehicles
To ensure smooth traffic flow, heavy vehicles coming from Jaipur on NH-48 will be diverted towards the KMP Expressway from Panchgaon. Vehicles from the Gurugram side will be redirected via Hero Honda Chowk, Shankar Chowk, Mehrauli Border, Sohna, Pataudi, and Farrukhnagar.
Vehicles Exempted
Vehicles carrying milk, vegetables, fruits, as well as fire services, ambulances, and airport-bound vehicles will be exempted from these restrictions. Vehicles heading to other districts or states may use the KMP Expressway via Panchgaon Chowk.
Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance and follow traffic police instructions to avoid inconvenience.
