School New Rules: Delhi Government issues fresh guidelines for schools amid rising heat
National Desk: Amid the increasing heatwave conditions, the Delhi Government has issued new guidelines for schools. The Meteorological Department has placed the national capital under a Yellow Alert, prompting authorities to prioritize student safety and take several important measures.
According to the new directives, weather advisories and heatwave updates will be shared by schools with parents through WhatsApp groups to ensure timely communication. Each school will appoint a nodal teacher responsible for monitoring the implementation of these guidelines. All schools have been instructed to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) by May 2, 2026.
These measures are being considered crucial in view of the rising temperatures, with the administration aiming to safeguard students from the risks of heatwaves.
Key Guidelines Issued:
- Outdoor assemblies have been suspended in all schools.
- A “Water Bell” system has been introduced to prevent dehydration.
- Students will be reminded to drink water every 45–60 minutes.
- Awareness materials related to heatwave safety will be displayed across school premises.
- All outdoor sports and activities have been completely restricted.
