35 People Fall Ill After Eating Momos, Several Children Hospitalized; Health Department Takes Action

National Desk: In Khirwa village under Mussoorie Gram Panchayat, around 35 people fell ill after consuming momos sold at a food stall during a village fair. Most of the affected are school-going children. The incident created panic in the village, prompting the health department to launch immediate relief measures.

Illness After Eating Momos at the Fair

On Friday, a village fair was organized, where locals bought and ate momos from a roadside stall. Soon after, both children and adults started complaining of vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. As their condition worsened, family members rushed them to the nearby hospital. Several patients in serious condition were referred to the medical college.

Symptoms of Diarrhea, Children in Critical Condition

Doctors confirmed that most of the patients are suffering from diarrhea, and the condition of several children remains critical. Upon receiving information, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Vijendra Singh immediately sent a medical team to the village. The team conducted health checkups, distributed medicines, and carried out sanitation drives in the affected area.

Fear in the Village, Appeal for Caution

The health department has urged villagers to maintain cleanliness, avoid open defecation, and stay away from unhygienic surroundings. CMO Dr. Singh said that so far, around 35 people have been reported ill, most of them children. Treatment is ongoing, and patients are showing signs of recovery.

He also appealed to people to avoid consuming unsafe and unhygienic food sold on the roadside to prevent such incidents in the future.

A sense of fear has gripped the village, with families deeply concerned about the health of their children. Meanwhile, health department teams are carrying out regular monitoring and providing medical support to ensure the situation remains under control.
