National Desk: Ahead of the festive rush during Diwali and Chhath Puja, the Indian Railways has announced a major and surprising change at New Delhi Railway Station. To manage the heavy passenger load and ensure smooth operations, the administration has temporarily changed the platforms of nearly a dozen trains. These changes will remain in effect until October 30
Reason Behind the Decision
Every year, New Delhi station witnesses massive crowds during the festive season. Platforms 12, 13, 14, and 15 are usually the most congested, as several popular trains depart from there at the same time. To avoid chaos and ensure the safety of passengers and staff, the Railways has decided to temporarily reassign platforms for several key trains.
Railways’ Appeal to Passengers
The Railways has urged passengers to check their train’s platform number before travel. Updated platform information is available on the official Indian Railways website, station notice boards, and through public announcements at the station.

Platform Ticket Sale Suspended
To further control crowding, the Railways has temporarily suspended the sale of platform tickets from October 15 to October 28 at New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Ghaziabad Junction stations.
However, special permission will be given to those accompanying senior citizens or women passengers. Platform ticket booking on online apps will also remain temporarily unavailable during this period.
