Bird Flu Outbreak: Delhi Zoo Closed Until Further Orders

New Delhi. Two painted stork birds were found dead in the Water Bird Aviary of the National Zoological Park (Delhi Zoo), and tests have confirmed the presence of Bird Flu (H5N1 Avian Influenza).

The confirmation came from the test reports of samples collected on August 27, which were examined at the National Institute for High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD), Bhopal. On the evening of August 28, both samples tested positive for bird flu.

Zoo authorities have termed the situation serious and, as a precautionary measure, announced the closure of the zoo until further notice. Additional steps include enhanced monitoring of the birds and isolating any potentially infected ones.

Furthermore, necessary measures are being taken to ensure public health safety. Environmental experts emphasize that strict precautions are essential to prevent the spread of bird flu, as the virus can be fatal to both humans and birds.
