CM Rekha Gupta Launches Advanced Mammography Unit at Dharamshila Hospital

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday inaugurated a cutting-edge mammography unit at Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital as part of a special event marking Cancer Survivors Month.
The hospital, a key player in cancer care in the capital, aims to conduct 10,000 screenings this month, including 5,000 free mammography tests and 5,000 Pap smear screenings. The newly installed mammography system is designed for early detection of breast cancer, which remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women.
Praising the initiative, CM Gupta said the effort would go a long way in supporting women’s health and early cancer diagnosis. “We still have a long journey ahead in the health sector. While Delhi has 38 government hospitals, that only accounts for 24% of the city’s healthcare infrastructure. We encourage private hospitals like Dharamshila to join hands under the PPP model and improve healthcare access,” she said.
She also noted that Ayushman Bharat Yojana has been rolled out across Delhi, offering free treatment up to ₹10 lakh, and confirmed that Dharamshila Hospital is now empanelled under the scheme—a move likely to benefit thousands of cancer patients.
Dr Emmanuel Rupert, MD & Group CEO of Narayana Health, said the goal of the awareness campaign is to promote early detection. “With advanced screening technology and accessible health checks, we can significantly improve cancer survival rates,” he said.
The programme was attended by several dignitaries, including Trilokpuri MLA Ravikant, Patparganj MLA Ravindra Negi, and Councillor Renu Chaudhary, along with senior doctors and cancer survivors.
The hospital’s outreach is part of a larger awareness campaign to encourage preventive screening and timely diagnosis, particularly for women at risk.
