Delhi Blast: Explosion So Intense That a Body Was Found Hanging on a Tree; Investigators Left Stunned
National Desk: On Monday evening, panic and chaos swept through Delhi as a deadly explosion shook the area near the Red Fort Metro Station. Around 6:55 PM, a Hyundai i20 car suddenly burst into flames, sending a fireball and shockwaves across the vicinity. The blast was so powerful that destruction was visible up to a 50-meter radius, and body parts of victims were scattered over a large area. The death toll has now reached 10 after investigators discovered a body hanging from a tree the next day.
The Moment of the Blast
On the evening of November 10, 2025, a parked car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station exploded with tremendous force. The sound was so loud that people nearby instinctively covered their ears and started running for safety. Investigators suspect that 5 to 10 kilograms of high-intensity explosive material was used. Nearby vehicles caught fire, flames spread to the road, and glass panels at the metro station shattered due to the shockwave.
Body Thrown into the Air, Found Hanging on Tree
The explosion’s force was so extreme that one victim’s body was propelled into the air and became lodged in a tree several meters away. The body was spotted by investigative teams the next morning while inspecting the site. Initially, the death count was eight, but with this discovery, it has risen to ten. The scene shocked even the police officers on duty.
Destruction Spread Across 50 Meters
Concrete walls cracked, windows shattered, and metal fragments flew across the area. The blast damaged nearby vehicles and even shattered the windows of a temple close to the metro station. People were seen running through smoke and flames, scrambling to save their lives.
Eyewitness Accounts: “It Felt Like an Earthquake”
Witnesses said the explosion was accompanied by a blinding flash and a thunderous boom. “The entire ground seemed to shake,” one eyewitness said. “People were screaming, and the air was filled with smoke and dust.”
Identification Through DNA Testing
The intensity of the blast left several bodies severely burnt and dismembered. Forensic teams are now relying on DNA testing to identify the victims. Some bodies were found in multiple pieces, separated across the blast radius. Several injured individuals are being treated at LNJP Hospital, with many in critical condition.
NIA Takes Over Investigation
The Ministry of Home Affairs has handed the investigation over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Early findings suggest the use of strong explosive compounds, and officials are looking into possible links to terrorist modules, including a suspected network in Faridabad.
Investigators are probing whether the blast was part of a larger planned operation.
