Delhi Blast: Red Fort Metro Station Shook Violently During Car Explosion, CCTV Footage Reveals
National Desk: CCTV footage from inside the Red Fort Metro Station has revealed that the station shook violently at the moment a nearby car exploded, an official said on Saturday. The blast killed 13 people and left several others injured.
In the surveillance footage, passengers can be seen moving normally inside the station when suddenly a strong tremor shakes the entire premises as the explosion occurs in a car waiting at a nearby traffic signal.
The video shows objects inside the station rattling due to the impact, and several passengers staggering from the force of the shock. As the effect of the blast becomes clear, some commuters are seen running further inside the station.
Authorities said that investigators are reviewing the footage to better understand the intensity of the explosion and its immediate impact on structures around the Red Fort area.
The Red Fort Metro Station has remained closed since the day of the incident. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been issuing updates daily, and on Thursday announced that the station will remain shut until further notice due to the ongoing safety review and investigation. Security agencies are analyzing CCTV footage from the blast site, surrounding areas, and the metro station to trace the sequence of events leading up to the explosion.
