Eid Special: 32 Lakh Muslim Families to Get ‘Saughat-e-Modi’ Kits

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a new campaign to reach out to minorities. The party is launching the Saughat-e-Modi campaign, whereby the BJP Minority Morcha will give Saugat-e-Modi kits to 3.2 million Muslim families all over the country on the occasion of Eid. Besides this, 32,000 office bearers of the Minority Morcha will set up contacts with 32,000 mosques to search for needy ones and give away the kits. Opposition parties have criticized the move.

Yasir Jilani, the national media in-charge of Minority Morcha, said that the Saughat-e-Modi campaign is a BJP initiative to popularize welfare schemes among the Muslim community and mobilize political support for the BJP and NDA. The kits given under this campaign will have different things.

In addition to the food material, the kits will also carry clothing, sevaiyan (vermicelli), dates, dry fruits, and sugar. Suit fabrics will be included in the women’s kits, and kurta-pajamas will be placed in the men’s kits. The estimated cost per kit will be between ₹500 and ₹600, according to media reports.
