Grand Temple of Maa Sita to be Built on 12 Acres in Sitamarhi, Bihar — Saints Urge PM Modi to Perform Bhoomi Pujan

New Delhi: A grand temple dedicated to Maa Sita will soon be constructed in Sitamarhi, Bihar, over a 12-acre land allotted by the Bihar State Religious Trust Council. This major religious and cultural project was the highlight of a program organized on Monday at New Delhi’s Constitution Club under the banner of the Ramayana Research Council. In a unanimous voice, all saints present at the event expressed that the Bhoomi Pujan (groundbreaking ceremony) for the temple must be conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Saints Unite in Support of PM Modi Leading Bhoomi Pujan
Swami Avdheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara emphasized that “the same hands that consecrated Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya should now bless the land for Maa Sita’s temple in Sitamarhi.” Saints from across India have committed to meeting the Prime Minister to formally request his participation.
Temple Near Maa Sita’s Appearance Site
Swami Gyananand Maharaj, also known as Geeta Manishi, shared that a dream is soon coming true: a magnificent statue of Maa Sita and a full-fledged pilgrimage complex will be developed at Sitamarhi. He clarified that while the actual appearance site (Prakatya Sthal) of Maa Sita is at Punoura Dham, the new temple will be built 4 kilometers away at an ancient monastery under the jurisdiction of the Religious Trust Council. The council has now approved the long-standing request of the Ramayana Research Council to restore and develop this site.
Plans Include 108-Foot Hanuman Statue
The complex will also feature a 108-foot-tall statue of Lord Hanuman, a symbol of unwavering devotion and strength. The initiative includes renovation and construction of multiple temples and monasteries across the region.
Saints Call for Global Support
Swami Balak Anand Giri, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Anand Peeth, praised the ongoing efforts of the Ramayana Research Council and called for mass public involvement, particularly of women. Saints like Swami Chidanand Saraswati of Parmarth Niketan and Swami Chitprakashanand Giri of Niranjani Akhara appealed to the global Sanatan community to support this divine cause, not just in constructing the temple, but in spreading the spiritual values of Maa Sita.
Support from Mithila and Beyond
Swami Kishori Sharan Maharaj from Vrindavan’s Mithila Kunj Ashram urged Maithils across the globe to unite and support the initiative. From Ayodhya, Swami Jayaram Das of Mithila Ashram expressed joy in contributing to the Sitamarhi temple project following the successful construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Architectural Vision and Political Backing
Renowned temple architect Ashish Sompura, who designed the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, is also involved in this project and shared insights about the grand design of Maa Sita’s temple in Sitamarhi. Local MP Devesh Chandra Thakur expressed pride in this initiative, noting that it began during his tenure and that both state and central governments are actively supporting it.
