Halla Bol Pinjra Tod” Echoes on the Banks of Gomti: 1,200 Citizens Unite for Animal Welfare
Lucknow — In a powerful and peaceful demonstration against the incarceration and displacement of animals, nearly 1,200 citizens gathered today raising slogans of “Halla Bol Pinjra Tod” and “No Cages, No Shelter.” The participants called for rejecting policies based on confinement and exile of animals, and instead advocated for solutions grounded in science, compassion, and legal provisions. They strongly endorsed the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules as a sustainable and practical model for long-term human-dog coexistence.
The vibrant rally was held in Lucknow and witnessed enthusiastic participation from school children, members of the transgender community, students with disabilities, biker groups, bands, and singers. Marching across the Gomti River, participants sent a unified message in support of animal rights and compassionate coexistence.
The event drew not only residents of Lucknow but also distinguished citizens and animal lovers from various parts of the country. Following the rally, band performances were आयोजित, succeeded by an expert panel discussion and a press conference.
Prominent attendees included Ambika Shukla, Gauri Maulekhi, and Sankshay Babbar. Addressing the gathering, Sankshay Babbar stated:
“This public outpouring on the streets is a natural response to solutions that are unacceptable to the people. Compassion towards animals is an intrinsic part of this country’s cultural ethos, and until a scientific and humane solution is presented, the public will continue to raise its voice.” Senior Advocate Percy Billimoria also marked his presence at the event, adding significance to the occasion.
The rally was jointly organized by Animal Rights and India4Animals, both collective platforms dedicated to advancing animal welfare. The organizers emphasized that their objective is to promote policies aligned with coexistence, compassion, constitutional values, and evidence-based approaches. The rally underscored that animal welfare is not merely an emotional issue, but one that requires a balanced integration of scientific reasoning, humane values, and legal frameworks — with active participation from all sections of society.
