Heavy Rain Alert: IMD Issues Warning Till November 18 — Thunderstorms and Cold Wave Expected Across India
National Desk: Three active cyclonic circulations are expected to significantly influence India’s weather over the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that between November 12 and 18, several southern states are likely to witness heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, while cold wave conditions will grip parts of central and northern India.
According to the IMD, one of the three systems is currently active over the southwest and southeast Bay of Bengal, another over northern Haryana, and the third over northeastern Assam and adjoining areas.
Heavy Rainfall Expected in South India
Due to the combined impact of these systems, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in several southern states between November 12 and 18. Incidents of lightning and thunderstorm activity may also increase during this period.
- Tamil Nadu is likely to receive intense rainfall on November 12, 17, and 18.
- Kerala and Mahe are expected to experience heavy showers on November 12 and 13.
- Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema may witness heavy rain between November 17 and 18.
Cold Wave in Northern and Central India
Meanwhile, temperatures have begun to drop sharply in northern and central India. In Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh), the minimum temperature has already fallen to 7°C. IMD predicts severe cold wave conditions in west Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from November 12 to 13.
The eastern parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are also expected to feel the chill until November 15.
In northeastern India, dense fog conditions are likely to persist for the next five days, with temperatures expected to drop by 2 to 3°C.
Weather experts have noted that the interaction of these three cyclonic circulations could bring major shifts in India’s weather pattern, producing a mix of rain and cold across different regions.
