IndiGo Launches Direct Flights from Hindon Airport to 8 Major Cities, Boosting Regional Connectivity

Ghaziabad, June 20: In a major boost to regional air connectivity in the Delhi-NCR region, IndiGo Airlines has inaugurated direct flights from Hindon Airport (Ghaziabad) to eight key Indian cities. Starting June 20, 2025, passengers can now fly directly from Hindon to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, and Varanasi — a significant development for residents of Ghaziabad, East Delhi, and Western Uttar Pradesh.
With this expansion, Hindon becomes IndiGo’s 93rd domestic and 136th overall station, making it the second airport in the Delhi-NCR region to be integrated into IndiGo’s extensive network — the first being Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
This move is expected to decongest IGI Airport while also offering better convenience and faster access to air travel for travelers living in and around Ghaziabad, Noida, and other satellite towns.
Strategic Step to Strengthen Regional Access
The launch of these flights is being viewed as a strategic step towards enhancing the government’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) initiative and bolstering tier-2 and tier-3 city connectivity. With the inclusion of Hindon Airport in its domestic network, IndiGo aims to improve air access for a large segment of travelers who previously had to travel considerable distances to reach IGIA.
IndiGo currently operates over 1,500 weekly flights from Delhi to more than 85 domestic and international destinations. The addition of Hindon provides an alternative departure point and is expected to ease passenger load on IGI Airport, which is among the busiest airports in Asia.
Cities Now Connected with Direct Flights
As of June 20, the following direct flights from Hindon Airport are operational:
- Ahmedabad
- Bengaluru
- Chennai
- Indore
- Kolkata
- Mumbai
- Patna
- Varanasi
These cities represent some of India’s most prominent business, cultural, and tourism hubs, and their direct connectivity from Hindon is expected to stimulate not just passenger movement but also trade, commerce, and tourism.
Benefits for Local Residents
For residents of East Delhi, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and other parts of Western Uttar Pradesh, this development offers a time-saving and more accessible travel option. Passengers no longer need to battle Delhi traffic or cover long distances to reach IGI Airport. Instead, they can now avail air travel from their own backyard.
The launch also holds potential for job creation, airport development, and economic stimulation in the region surrounding Hindon.
