Instant Electricity Connections in Delhi for Festivals — Consumers Need to Do This

State Bureau, New Delhi. There will be no electricity-related hurdles during Ramlila and Durga Puja celebrations in Delhi this year. Power distribution companies (Discoms) have announced that temporary electricity connections will now be provided within 24 hours of application. BSES and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) have already launched this express service.

Since diesel generator sets are banned to curb pollution, this move will come as a big relief. Normally, getting a temporary power connection takes about a week, but with festivals like Navratri, Ramlila, Durga Puja, and Diwali around the corner, the immediate service will ensure uninterrupted electricity supply for all events.

This will not only safeguard the environment but also provide organizers with cheaper electricity compared to diesel generators. To obtain a temporary connection within 24 hours, applicants must submit all required documents along with the demand note at the time of application.

For instant connections:

• BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) consumers can call 19123,
• BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) consumers can call 19122,
  or they can visit the nearest BSES customer service center/digital service center to complete the formalities.

TPDDL consumers can apply by completing the required formalities at their divisional customer service centers. Applications can also be submitted through the Discom’s official website or mobile app.

Discom officials added that safety checks of electricity poles, streetlights, and other equipment are also being carried out to prevent any accidents during the festive season.
