Jewar Airport to Get Direct Connectivity with Faridabad and Gurugram; Bullet Train Also Planned
The Central Government has taken a major step to enhance connectivity to the Noida International Airport (NIAL) in Jewar. The airport will soon be directly connected not only to Noida but also to key Haryana cities like Faridabad and Gurugram via a new road corridor.
The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of this corridor with a revised cost of ₹3,630.77 crore.
Direct Link to Delhi-Mumbai Expressway
Under this plan, a new road will be developed to connect the ‘Delhi–Faridabad–Ballabhgarh–Sohna’ stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to Jewar Airport. The project will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and will pass through both Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Key Features of the Project
- Total Length: 31.42 km
- Elevated Stretch: 11 km will be elevated
- Haryana Portion: Around 7.8 km will pass through urban areas under Faridabad Master Plan 2031
- State Contribution: Haryana government will contribute approximately ₹450 crore
Big Relief for NCR Travelers
Once completed, this corridor will significantly reduce travel time to Jewar Airport for residents of South Delhi, Faridabad, and Gurugram. It is also expected to boost economic activity across the National Capital Region (NCR).
Integration with Major Infrastructure & Bullet Train Plan
The project is part of a larger plan to develop the area into a major logistics hub. It will be connected to key routes such as the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, and the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC).
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has also indicated that the Noida International Airport could be linked to a future high-speed rail network. Under the proposed Delhi–Varanasi High-Speed Rail Corridor, passengers may eventually have access to a bullet train connecting directly to the airport.
This integrated approach aims to transform Jewar Airport into a major transportation and logistics hub in North India.
