As thousands of devotees participate in the annual Kanwar Yatra, the Delhi Traffic Police has released a comprehensive traffic advisory to ensure smooth movement and the safety of both Kanwariyas and commuters. In an official post on X (formerly Twitter), authorities announced that a significant stretch of the GT Road — from Keshav Chowk Roundabout to Yudhishthir Setu (ISBT) — will remain closed to vehicular traffic from 8 AM on July 21 to 8 AM on July 23.
This temporary restriction is aimed at facilitating a safe and uninterrupted journey for the Kanwariyas, who carry holy water from the Ganges as part of their religious pilgrimage.

- Anand Vihar to Apsara Border
- GT Road to Vivek Vihar Underpass

Alternate Routes for Smooth Travel
To ease the impact on daily commuters, Delhi Traffic Police has suggested the following diversion routes:

Public Appeal by Delhi Traffic Police
In view of the expected surge in footfall and Kanwar movement, the Delhi Traffic Police has urged all motorists and commuters to exercise patience, adhere to diversions, and plan their travel in advance. Emergency vehicles and essential services will be allowed controlled passage through restricted zones.
The advisory emphasizes public cooperation as crucial to maintaining order during this large-scale religious procession. For real-time updates, travelers are encouraged to follow the Delhi Traffic Police’s official social media channels.
