LPG Crisis: ₹900 Cylinder Being Sold for ₹4,300 — Black Marketing Exposed

National Desk: Amid reports of an LPG shortage in the country, a major case of black marketing of gas cylinders has surfaced in Delhi. An investigation has revealed that some individuals are exploiting the supply crunch to charge consumers several times the actual price.

₹900 Cylinder Sold for ₹4,300
During a probe in Alipur area of outer Delhi, officials uncovered hoarding and illegal sale of LPG cylinders. A shopkeeper was found openly selling a domestic LPG cylinder, originally priced at ₹913, for as much as ₹4,300. Additionally, customers were being charged ₹200 extra under the pretext of providing cylinders from a different company.

People Forced to Pay Exorbitant Prices
The investigation team witnessed a daily wage laborer purchasing a cylinder for ₹4,300, highlighting how the shortage is forcing people to pay inflated prices out of desperation.

Network Spread Across Multiple Areas
The black marketing racket is not limited to one location. Similar activities were reported in areas like Kek Chowk and Maujpur, where cylinders were being sold for ₹3,400 to ₹4,000. Some sellers are even taking orders over the phone and supplying cylinders, indicating an organized network.

Illegal Operations Behind Small Shops
Shockingly, the illegal trade is being carried out under the cover of small businesses such as stationery shops and stove repair outlets. This suggests that the racket is widespread and operating at multiple levels.

Blatant Violation of Rules
The hoarding and sale of LPG cylinders at inflated prices clearly violate government regulations and amount to cheating consumers.

Demand for Strict Action
Following the expose, questions are being raised about whether authorities will take strict action. Citizens are demanding immediate crackdown on such illegal networks to ensure relief for the public.
