Major Mishap Averted at Delhi Airport: Akasa Air and SpiceJet Aircraft Wings Collide
National Desk: A major accident was narrowly avoided at Delhi Airport today when two aircraft—belonging to Akasa Air and SpiceJet—were involved in a minor collision on the taxiway. Fortunately, no passengers or crew members were injured, though both aircraft sustained some damage to their wings.
Akasa Air Issues Statement
Akasa Air confirmed that its aircraft, scheduled to fly from Delhi to Hyderabad, was stationary at the time of the incident. Preliminary reports indicate that the SpiceJet aircraft collided with it. Following the incident, all passengers and crew were safely deboarded. The airline has informed the concerned authorities, and an investigation is currently underway.
SpiceJet Responds
SpiceJet also released a statement regarding the incident, stating that the collision occurred on April 16, 2026, during taxiing at Delhi Airport. The airline reported damage to the right winglet of its aircraft and the left horizontal stabilizer of the other plane. As a precautionary measure, the SpiceJet aircraft has been grounded in Delhi to ensure safety and prevent any further issues.
