Malaika Arora in Legal Trouble Over Saif Ali Khan Hotel Assault Case

Bollywood star Malaika Arora finds herself in legal trouble after not turning up in court as a witness in the 2012 assault case against actor Saif Ali Khan. The incident took place at a five-star hotel in Mumbai, where Saif had allegedly assaulted NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma. Malaika was part of the group that was dining that evening, which included Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Amrita Arora Ladak, and others.

The Mumbai court had originally issued a bailable warrant for Malaika’s appearance on February 15. However, as she failed to appear at the hearing, Chief Judicial Magistrate K.S. Zanwar re-issued the warrant on Monday while taking into record the witness depositions.

This incident came after Amrita Arora testified that Saif had apologized after Sharma complained about the loud chatter of their group and had gone to the restroom. She also accused Sharma of entering their personal space and physically assaulting Saif. Saif and two others allegedly retaliated in response.

After the incident, Sharma lodged a complaint against Saif and his friends, who were arrested and then released on bail. Sharma blamed Saif for punching him and shattering his nose and also accused Saif’s group of attacking his father-in-law, Raman Patel. Saif, however, refuted the allegations, saying that Sharma had insulted and abused the ladies in the group, leading to the fight.

Saif Ali Khan, Shakeel Ladak, and Bilal Amrohi have been legally charged under Section 325 of the Indian Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt. The case is still ongoing as the statements of the witnesses are being recorded.
