Noida-Greater Noida Metro Expansion: 11 Stations Planned on New 15.5 km Route, ₹3,000 Crore Project Gets Central Approval

Noida News – In a major infrastructure push for the National Capital Region (NCR), the central government has greenlit the long-awaited metro extension from Noida Sector 51 to Knowledge Park 5 in Greater Noida West. The proposed 15.5-kilometer corridor will feature 11 stations and is expected to cost approximately ₹3,000 crore.

Metro Connectivity for 10 Lakh Daily Commuters

The new metro line, set to significantly boost public transport in the region, will serve nearly 10 lakh residents — many of whom are daily commuters working in IT parks, business hubs, and corporate offices. The construction work is set to begin soon, following the central government’s approval.

Proposed Stations on the Route

The metro will start from Noida Sector 51 and pass through Sector 61, Sector 70, Sector 122, Sector 123, Greater Noida West Sector 4, Ecotech-12, Sector 2, West 3, West 10, West 12, and finally Knowledge Park 5.

To Be Integrated with the Aqua Line

This upcoming metro corridor will be an extension of Noida Metro’s Aqua Line, currently operational between Noida and Greater Noida. With this new addition, metro connectivity will bridge the gap between several emerging sectors and the core city areas, enhancing mobility and reducing road traffic. Notably, the plan originally included only nine stations but was later expanded to eleven to accommodate growing population clusters.

Long-standing Demand Fulfilled

Greater Noida West, home to over 300 housing societies and lakhs of residents, has long struggled with inadequate public transport infrastructure. The upcoming metro corridor is expected to offer a major relief to these residents by providing fast, reliable, and affordable transport options.

Sector 142 to Botanical Garden Corridor Also in Pipeline

In another significant development, the central government has initiated groundwork for a separate 11-km metro link between Sector 142 and Botanical Garden, via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The corridor will include 8 elevated stations:
Botanical Garden, Sector 44, Noida Administrative Building, Sector 97, Sector 105, Sector 108, Sector 93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College.

₹500 Crore Budget Approved for Sector 142-Botanical Garden Link

Topographical and GPS surveys have already been completed, marking the first phase of the project. This route will cater to residents and institutional areas located along the expressway, significantly improving access to key city nodes and transportation hubs.

Together, these metro expansion projects mark a transformative step towards building a modern, efficient, and environmentally sustainable public transportation network across Noida and Greater Noida.
