Petrol & Diesel Prices: Government Issues Major Update, Clarifies Situation

National Desk: The government has issued a fresh update regarding petrol and diesel prices. According to officials, there has been a significant rise in crude oil prices in the international market. Despite this, the government and oil companies are reportedly facing heavy losses on fuel sales.

Sources indicate that oil companies are incurring losses of around ₹20 per litre on petrol and up to ₹100 per litre on diesel. However, the government has clarified that, for now, fuel prices will remain stable.

Recently, some reports had claimed that fuel prices would increase after elections. The Ministry of Petroleum has dismissed these claims, calling them false and confirming that there are currently no plans to hike petrol or diesel prices.

Prices Stable in India
Despite the sharp increase in global crude oil prices, petrol and diesel rates in India have not been revised. The government stated that it is making continuous efforts to ensure that the burden does not fall on the common public.

Over the past four years, India has been among the few countries where petrol and diesel prices have not seen a significant rise. Currently, in Delhi, petrol is priced at ₹94.77 per litre, while diesel costs ₹87.67 per litre.
