Rapid Cargo Service Train to Run from Delhi to Kashmir, Boosting Trade
Jammu: In a major relief for traders in the Kashmir Valley—especially fruit growers and handicraft businesses—the Jammu Division has announced the operation of a “Joint Parcel Product – Rapid Cargo Service” (JPP-RCS) train between Adarsh Nagar Delhi and Budgam. Train numbers 00461/00462 will run on a regular basis from April 17 to May 31, initially on a trial basis. Based on occupancy and performance, the service may be extended for regular operations.
Key Features & Schedule
- From Budgam, train no. 00462 will depart at 06:15 AM and arrive at Adarsh Nagar Delhi at 05:00 AM the next day.
- From Delhi, train no. 00461 will depart at 05:00 AM and reach Budgam at 10:45 AM the next day.
- The schedule at Bari Brahmana railway station has been adjusted to better accommodate traders.
- The train will consist of 8 Parcel Vans (VPs) and 1 Seating-cum-Luggage Rake (SLR).

Official Statement
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal, stated:
“Considering the continuous demand from traders and farmers, we have decided to operate the Adarsh Nagar Delhi–Budgam JPP-RCS parcel train from April 17 to May 31. Our aim is to provide a fast, safe, and cost-effective transportation solution for fruit growers and handicraft traders in the Kashmir Valley.”
This initiative is expected to strengthen the economy of Jammu & Kashmir by improving market access and logistics efficiency for local producers.
