Spring Blooms in Connaught Place: CM Rekha Gupta Inaugurates Grand Flower Festival, Delhiites Flock to Central Park

National Desk: New Delhi – Central Park in Connaught Place has turned into a vibrant hub of colors and fragrances as the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) hosts its four-day Flower Festival. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the grand event, where over 15,500 flower pots featuring 48 different varieties of flowers have been beautifully arranged, transforming the park into a lively floral gallery.

Grand Opening Ceremony

The inauguration ceremony was attended by NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra, Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Member Anil Valmiki, and Secretary Rahul Singh. As soon as the festival opened, visitors gathered in large numbers to admire the colorful display and enjoy the soothing fragrance of flowers.

Tulips Now in Delhi

During the event, CM Rekha Gupta said that earlier people had to travel to Kashmir to see tulips, but now NDMC brings the beauty of tulips to the capital every year. She added that the festival has now become a “selfie festival,” where visitors capture memorable photos among the vibrant floral displays.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the significance of the Falgun month, describing it as a symbol of colors, joy, and celebration. She praised the horticulture department staff for their dedication, noting that their efforts have filled every corner of Central Park with blooming flowers.

A Blend of Tradition and Modernity

NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra stated that decorating the capital with flowers during Falgun and Holi is a long-standing tradition of the council. Months of preparation by the horticulture team go into organizing this festival.

Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal added that the beautification of New Delhi during major events such as the G20 Summit and the recent AI Summit impressed international guests as well.

Key Highlights of the Festival

The festival features 18 themed sections, displaying seasonal flowers such as dahlias, petunias, pansies, salvia, and marigolds across more than 15,500 pots. Visitors can also see:

  • Floral sculptures shaped like animals and birds
  • Tray gardens
  • Large hanging baskets
  • Terrariums
  • Eastern and Western-style garden decorations

Selfie Points and Musical Fountain

Special selfie zones have been created with pyramid, heart-shaped, and cylindrical floral structures. In the evening, the musical fountain with colorful lighting adds to the magical atmosphere, making the park even more attractive for visitors.

Special Attractions for Gardening Enthusiasts

The festival also features stalls offering nursery plants, bonsai, hydroponics, cactus and succulent plants, and herbal plants. Visitors can purchase seeds, pots, fertilizers, and decorative gardening materials, making the event both enjoyable and useful for gardening lovers.

Open to the Public

The four-day Flower Festival will remain open to the public until March 6, and entry is free. NDMC has invited people to visit with family and friends to enjoy the beauty and fragrance of flowers while celebrating the spring season.
