UPI Update: NPCI Introduces New Security Rules from April 2025

Starting April 1, 2025, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will implement new rules for UPI payments to enhance security and prevent transaction failures.

As part of these changes, banks will regularly remove deactivated or reassigned mobile numbers from their UPI systems. This measure aims to reduce the risk of incorrect or failed transactions, ensuring that payments reach the intended recipients without errors.

Additionally, UPI apps will now require user consent before updating mobile numbers. Users will have the choice to opt in for mobile number updates, giving them greater control over their payment details and security.

These updates are designed to make UPI transactions safer and more efficient for users across India. If you rely on UPI for digital payments, staying informed about these changes will help ensure seamless transactions.
