Weather Update: Winter Knocks on Delhi-NCR! Noticeable Chill in Mornings and Evenings, IMD Shares Nationwide Forecast
National Desk: The monsoon season has officially ended across India, and winter is gradually making its presence felt in the northern region. A noticeable chill can now be felt in the mornings and evenings across Delhi-NCR and several northern states. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures are likely to dip further in the coming days.
Delhi-NCR Weather Update:
As per IMD data, Delhi recently recorded a maximum temperature of 31.5°C and a minimum of 19.6°C. The chill is becoming more prominent during early mornings and late nights, while the daytime sun brings mild warmth. In outer regions such as Noida and Ghaziabad, light fog and cool winds have also been observed. Over the next few days, minimum temperatures are expected to remain between 16°C and 18°C.
Weather Across North India:
Most northern states, including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan, are expected to experience clear skies with pleasant sunshine and cool winds. In contrast, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir may witness rainfall and snowfall in higher altitudes, leading to cold wave conditions in some areas.
Eastern and Northeastern India:
Regions such as Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.
In Bihar, the IMD has issued a warning for strong winds and lightning. Meanwhile, West Bengal and Odisha may experience thunderstorms and heavy rain on October 14. Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha regions are also expected to receive rain accompanied by thunder and lightning between October 14 and 16.
Southern India Weather Alert:
Southern states — Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana — are forecast to receive light to moderate rain, with isolated heavy rainfall between October 13 and 18. Wind speeds could reach 30–40 km/h during October 13–16. In particular, Kerala may face stormy winds and heavy rain towards the end of October due to the northeast monsoon’s influence.
