Liquor Sale Banned: Alert for Alcohol Consumers! No Liquor Available in Delhi for 5 Days, Complete Ban on Sale, Strict Police Vigil
National Desk: This is an important update for alcohol consumers living in Delhi. The Delhi government has announced that liquor sales will be completely prohibited on certain days in the coming months. The Excise Department of the Delhi Government has declared a total of five dry days between January 26 and March 31, 2026. On these dates, all liquor shops, vends, and outlets across the capital will remain completely closed.
The decision has been taken to maintain law and order and to respect public sentiments during national festivals, religious occasions, and important events.
According to the official order issued by the Excise Department, the purchase and sale of alcohol will be strictly prohibited throughout the city on dry days. No shop or vendor will be permitted to sell liquor during this period.
List of Dry Days
- January 26 – Republic Day
- February 15 – Maha Shivratri
- March 21 – Eid-ul-Fitr
- March 26 – Ram Navami
- March 31 – Mahavir Jayanti
Limited Relaxation for Hotels
The government has clarified that certain hotels have been granted partial relaxation. Hotels holding an L-15 license will be allowed to serve liquor only to their in-house guests, and that too inside their rooms. However, serving or selling alcohol in hotel bars, restaurants, or to outsiders will remain strictly prohibited.
Strict Action for Violations
The administration has warned that any shop, bar, or vendor found illegally selling liquor on dry days will face strict action. This may include cancellation of license and heavy fines. Police and excise department teams will maintain strict vigilance across the city during these days.
The Delhi government has appealed to the public to follow the rules and cooperate with the administration to help maintain law and order.
