Varun Sharma Backs ‘One Nation, One Election’: Calls for Awareness and Discussion

Actor Varun Sharma, famous for his work in Fukrey, has backed the One Nation, One Election proposal. In a speech given at an awareness event in Delhi on Wednesday, Sharma urged the public to familiarize themselves with the proposal through reading, conversations with friends, and having some good discussions about it. Varun Sharma stressed that talking about the plan with family members and friends should be done so that awareness spreads.

Describing his opinions, Varun Sharma stated, “I feel it’s an excellent initiative. I’ve been reading about the same for two to three months now. Let us keep studying, researching and discussing it more. The more we discuss the same, the more it’ll move forward.”

The actor, best known for his comedic roles, pointed out the advantages of a coordinated election system. He feels it would enhance efficiency and conserve precious time for citizens and the government alike. “We’ve been educated since childhood that time is the most precious resource. If elections are combined, it will conserve a lot of time for everybody, including the government,” he further added.

Sharma’s comments are in line with the general debate regarding the One Nation, One Election policy, which seeks to simplify the election process by conducting simultaneous elections nationwide. The move has raised questions regarding its viability and effect, and Sharma’s support brings a voice from the entertainment sector to the debate.
