Veteran Actor Satish Shah Passes Away at 74 Due to Kidney Failure

Mumbai: Renowned actor Satish Shah has passed away at the age of 74. The veteran performer, known for his iconic roles in both films and television, breathed his last on October 25 due to kidney failure.

According to India Today, Shah had been battling kidney-related complications for some time and had recently undergone a kidney transplant. He reportedly took his last breath at 2:30 PM. His body remains at the hospital, and the funeral will be held on Sunday, as confirmed by his manager.

Film producer Ashoke Pandit expressed his grief over Shah’s demise on X (formerly Twitter), writing,

“With deep sorrow, I share that our dear friend and outstanding actor Satish Shah passed away a few hours ago due to kidney failure. He was taken to Hinduja Hospital, where he breathed his last. This is a huge loss for our industry. Om Shanti.”

Fans and colleagues have flooded social media with condolences, remembering Shah for his humor, warmth, and versatility.

A Career Spanning Over Five Decades

Satish Shah’s acting career stretched over five decades, during which he became one of India’s most beloved character actors. He began his film journey with the 1970 movie Bhagwan Parshuram and went on to appear in several acclaimed films including Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai, and Andaz Apna Apna.

However, it was the 1983 cult classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro that cemented his status as a comic genius. On television, his portrayal of Indravardhan Sarabhai in the iconic sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai made him a household name across India.

Over the years, he featured in several blockbuster films such as Hum Saath Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Om Shanti Om.

Satish Shah’s unmatched timing, expressive face, and effortless humor left an indelible mark on Indian entertainment. His passing marks the end of an era for fans of Indian comedy and television.
