Beware! Sunny Days Can Be Deceptive as Mountains Brace for Turmoil; IMD Issues High Alert for Delhi, UP and Several States After Valentine’s Day
Weather Update News: Weather patterns across North India have started shifting as early as February. While people from Delhi to Bhopal have begun putting away their winter clothes and blankets due to rising daytime temperatures, a fresh warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised new concerns. A new Western Disturbance has become active over the Himalayan region, and its impact is expected to be felt in the plains soon.
Fierce Conditions in the Hills, Chilly Winds in the Plains
According to meteorologists, heavy snowfall and rainfall are likely in the higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. This activity in the mountains will trigger cold winds sweeping across the northern plains, keeping mornings and nights chilly. A significant change in weather conditions is expected after Valentine’s Day, from February 15 onward.
Weather Forecast for Key States
Delhi-NCR:
- Morning fog likely; light drizzle possible after February 16

Impact of South India and the Bay of Bengal System
Weather changes are not limited to North India. A developing pressure area over the Bay of Bengal may bring rainfall to parts of South India. Increased cloud movement is also expected across northern states, with isolated thunderstorms and light showers in some regions.
Delhi-NCR: Possible Relief from Pollution
The weather is expected to remain pleasant in the national capital and surrounding areas such as Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram on Valentine’s Day. Strong winds may help reduce pollution levels, improving overall air quality. Light drizzle after February 16 could bring a slight dip in temperatures.
