Jhandewalan Temple Announces ‘Bhakti Uday’ Event for Sanatan New Year, Makes Extensive Arrangements for Navratri
New Delhi: The management of Jhandewalan Devi Temple on Monday announced the organization of a special devotional program titled “Bhakti Uday: Prabhat Bhakti Sangat” on the occasion of the Sanatan New Year, along with comprehensive arrangements for the upcoming Navratri festival, which witnesses the arrival of lakhs of devotees every year.
Addressing a press conference, temple authorities said the Sanatan New Year, which begins on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, symbolizes renewal in nature, seasonal transition and the rejuvenation of creation. To celebrate the occasion and connect younger generations with India’s spiritual and cultural traditions, the temple will organize “Bhakti Uday: Prabhat Bhakti Sangat” as a morning devotional gathering.
The event will begin with devotees offering arghya to the first rays of the rising sun, marking the symbolic start of the new year. This will be followed by devotional and cultural performances from 6:30 am to 11:00 am. According to temple officials, the program will feature “Bhajan Clubbing,” combining devotional music, classical melodies and youthful energy while maintaining spiritual discipline and decorum.
Meanwhile, with Navratri approaching, the temple management has implemented extensive arrangements for crowd management and safety, anticipating a large influx of devotees. Authorities said a scientific crowd management system has been put in place, including multi-layer barricading, separate entry, darshan and exit routes, multiple darshan corridors and QR code-based online darshan booking facilities.
Security across the temple premises will be strengthened with CCTV surveillance, coordination with Delhi Police, deployment of trained security personnel and designated emergency exit routes. Medical facilities will also be available, including first-aid centres, doctors, volunteers and 24-hour ambulance services.
The temple, known for its organized and hygienic prasad distribution, will offer panchamrit, panjiri, makhana and peanuts to devotees in specially packed portions. Dedicated sanitation teams will remain active round the clock to ensure cleanliness, while arrangements for safe drinking water have also been made.
More than 3,000 volunteers, including a large number of women sevadars, will serve devotees in multiple shifts throughout the Navratri period. To ease access for visitors, the temple administration has arranged six parking areas around the temple and free e-rickshaw services for devotees arriving via metro. Clear signage and help centres will also be installed within the premises.
In addition, facilities such as free tea, biscuits and sherbet for devotees, mehendi services for women, plant stalls and dairy product counters will be available during the festival.
Temple authorities said their objective is to ensure smooth darshan, proper prasad distribution and a spiritually fulfilling experience for every devotee visiting Maa Jhandewali during Navratri.
They added that Jhandewalan Devi Temple is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of service, discipline and collective devotion, and invited devotees, particularly the youth, to participate in the “Bhakti Uday: Prabhat Bhakti Sangat” event marking the Sanatan New Year.
