LPG Black Marketing Busted in Delhi: 223 Cylinders Seized, Two Arrested

New Delhi: In a major crackdown on illegal LPG storage and black marketing, the South District team of Delhi Police has uncovered an unauthorized warehouse in the Rajpur Khurd area. During the raid, police seized a total of 223 LPG cylinders and arrested two individuals on the spot.

Action Based on Tip-Off

The operation was carried out on March 17 after the Special Staff received specific information about illegal stockpiling of gas cylinders at a plot in the area. Acting swiftly, the team conducted a raid and found that no valid license or authorization had been obtained for storing the cylinders.

Items Recovered During Raid

Police recovered the following items from the site:

  • 16 filled domestic cylinders
  • 45 empty domestic cylinders
  • 162 empty commercial cylinders
  • 1 electronic weighing machine
  • 8 safety caps

Two Accused Taken Into Custody

Two individuals, identified as Hitesh Rathi and Arvind Kumar, were detained at the scene. During questioning, both failed to produce valid documents. A case has been registered under the Essential Commodities Act, and further investigation is underway.

Major Hazard Averted

According to police officials, such illegal storage not only promotes black marketing but also poses a serious risk of fire or explosion, endangering the lives of nearby residents.

Ongoing Crackdown

Authorities have been actively targeting similar illegal operations across Delhi. In a recent case in the Mundka area, hundreds of cylinders were also seized. Police have stated that strict action against such networks will continue.
